Pit Bull Attack at Starbucks

On Thursday July 12, 2012 at around 7:30 a.m. at the Starbucks on Wren Avenue and First Street, a woman and her small dog were mauled by a pitbull that had gotten loose. The small dog that was attacked sustained serious injuries and had to be euthanized. The owner, who was also attacked, sustained serious injuries, though they are not life-threatening.

After the attack occurred, the person attending to the pitbull (possibly the owner) fled the scene and is currently being searched for. The pitbull has a microchip implanted which has lead police to the former owner's home. The Gilroy Police Department Animal Control Officer Maria Gallacinao said that, "It's not a matter of if we find the owner, it's when."
